Prayer For Peace in Ukraine

Heavenly Father, You Son taught us “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.” We fervently pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that you inspire men to become peacemakers. May mankind seek reconciliation and peace as is Your Will in this world. May tranquility be restored to all nations and especially Ukraine. God, Our Father, we beseech You to comfort the suffering, heal the wounded, and accept the souls of the dearly departed into Your heavenly kingdom. May the Most Holy Mother of God extend Her Mantle of Protection over Ukraine and the whole world. May each of us always live our lives as instruments of Your peace, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

  • Beheading of St. John the Baptist Holy Day on Tuesday

The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, also known as the Beheading of the Forerunner, is a biblical event and holy day observed by various Christian churches that follow liturgical traditions. The day commemorates the martyrdom by beheading of Saint John the Baptist on the orders of Herod Antipas through the vengeful request of his step-daughter Salome and her mother Herodias.  A Holy Day Divine Liturgy will be held at 9:00am.  Please come to Church on Tuesday to honor this special Saint.

  • New Church Year begins on Friday

The church liturgical year begins on September 1st. The establishment of the new church year has a long history dating back to ancient Roman times. The Church Fathers at the First Council of Nicaea (325 AD), out of gratitude for the legalization and ability to openly profess the Christian faith, adopted this date as the beginning of the new church/liturgical year. The Eastern Catholic Church continues this practice of starting the new church year on September 1st.
