Prayer For Peace in Ukraine
Heavenly Father, You Son taught us “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.” We fervently pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that you inspire men to become peacemakers. May mankind seek reconciliation and peace as is Your Will in this world. May tranquility be restored to all nations and especially Ukraine. God, Our Father, we beseech You to comfort the suffering, heal the wounded, and accept the souls of the dearly departed into Your heavenly kingdom. May the Most Holy Mother of God extend Her Mantle of Protection over Ukraine and the whole world. May each of us always live our lives as instruments of Your peace, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

- Protection of the Mother of God
The Church has always glorified the Most Holy Mother of God as the Protectress and Defender of the Christian people, entreating, by her intercession, God’s loving-kindness towards us sinners. The Mother of God’s aid has been clearly shown times without number, both to individuals and to peoples, both in peace and in war, both in monastic deserts and in crowded cities. It is one of the most beloved feast days on the Church Calendar, commemorated on October 1st.
- THE MONTH OF OCTOBER IS “RESPECT LIFE MONTH”
The Church has long designated the month of October as a month of prayer and reflection on the precious gift of life that we as children of God share. Life is a gift from God the Creator of all things visible and invisible. We all are precious in the eyes of the Lord God. All human life is sacred and precious. Let each of our voices be heard by speaking up and on behalf of those who are unable to do so for themselves. Let us defend our right to life, unhindered by others and in accord with the Holy Will of Our Heavenly Father.

- Gift and Basket Auction next Sunday in Mt. Carmel
Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 131 N. Beech St, Mt. Carmel will hold a Gift and Basket Auction next Sunday, October 8th. Browse and Bid on October 6th, 7th, and 8th.
- Flea Market next Saturday in Warrington
St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1545 Easton Road, Warrington will hold a Flea Market with Craft Vendors next Saturday, October 7th, 8:00am – 2:00pm. Hourly tours of the Church, 9:00am – Noon. Kitchen will be Open!
- PILGRIMAGE TO THE MOTHER OF GOD
This year’s 92nd annual pilgrimage to the Mother of God will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 on the grounds of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Basil the Great in Fox Chase Manor, PA. The theme this year is “Our Lady, our Protectress and Refuge” with emphasis on calling upon the Mother of God to protect Ukraine during this time. Reconciliation 9am. Hierarchal Divine Liturgy 11am with Metropolitan Boris Gudziak as the main celebrant. Lunch with traditional Ukrainian food will be available afterwards. There will be Spiritual programs, Rosary and Stations of the Cross for Ukraine. Day concludes at 4pm with Moleben in the Grotto and blessing of vehicles followed by departure. - Rummage Sale next weekend in Plymouth
The Women’s Society of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 20 Nottingham St. Plymouth, will sponsor their annual Rummage Sale in the Church Hall – Friday, October 6, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday, October 7, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There is a lot of fine items for your shopping. A variety of homemade soup and halushki will be available for take outs only. Both the soups and the halushki are $8.00 a quart and $4.00 a pint. A Basket Raffle will also be presented and the proceeds from the Raffle will be donated to Humanitarian Aid in Ukraine. Come shop and enjoy. A follow up Sale will be held Friday, October 20, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 21 – 9:00 Am to 2:00 PM and Sunday, October 22 – 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM. A Piggie take out will be available at this sale.

- Clergy Retreat in New Jersey
Fr. Myron and the clergy of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia participated in the annual Clergy Retreat, which was held at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, New Jersey. Nearly all priests in the active ministry attended. This year’s retreat Director was Mitred Protopresbyter Mark Morozowich, a Ukrainian Catholic priest from the Eparchy of St. Josaphat in Parma, Ohio. He is a Western Pennsylvania native. He grew up in the Pittsburgh area. Rev. Mitred Archpriest Mark has written articles on numerous topics, such as the Divine Liturgy and the Ukrainian Catholic Church in America, East meets West in Liturgy, and Eastern Catholic Infant Communion. He has also given lectures on such topics as the Council of Zamosc, the Presanctified Liturgy, Made in His Image and Likeness: Worship and Icons. And the Sacraments of Initiation in the Ukrainian Catholic Church. After sharing supper together, the clergy were welcomed by Archbishop Borys Gudziak. Archbishop Borys introduced this year’s retreat master and briefly shared some of the recent events happening in Ukraine and in the Vatican. Pope Francis met with 45 Ukrainian Catholic bishops earlier this month. They shared some thoughts and open dialogue regarding the current situation in Ukraine and its effect on our Church there and throughout the Diaspora. Father Mark’s talks concentrated on us priests becoming “other Christ.” He spoke of the need to develop a close personal relationship with Our Lord God and Savior. Also, priests need to daily reflect and meditate on the Scriptural readings for the day, namely the Epistle and Gospel. Also, having received Christ in the reception of the Holy Eucharist, we are to put the prayers from the Liturgy into practice. Faith needs to be shown in active works, especially for our less fortunate faithful. It is utmost in providing pastoral ministry to them. The priest and all the faithful have been created in the image and likeness of God. We all are called to serve the Lord God in humility and great faith, especially in times of trials and tribulations. Both Archbishop Borys and the Retreat Master had reminded us to constantly pray daily for peace in Ukraine and to offer our help to those who had been wounded in the ongoing war in Ukraine. We should have a special sensitivity and compassion to those who now may have become our parishioners. The hope and prayer are that the clergy, having been renewed in spirit, may return to their parishes and assigned work with a new zeal to serve God and the People of God.
