Prayer For Peace in Ukraine

Heavenly Father, You Son taught us “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.” We fervently pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that you inspire men to become peacemakers. May mankind seek reconciliation and peace as is Your Will in this world. May tranquility be restored to all nations and especially Ukraine. God, Our Father, we beseech You to comfort the suffering, heal the wounded, and accept the souls of the dearly departed into Your heavenly kingdom. May the Most Holy Mother of God extend Her Mantle of Protection over Ukraine and the whole world. May each of us always live our lives as instruments of Your peace, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. THE MONTH OF OCTOBER IS “RESPECT LIFE MONTH”

The Church has long designated the month of October as a month of prayer and reflection on the precious gift of life that we as children of God share. Life is a gift from God the Creator of all things visible and invisible. We all are precious in the eyes of the Lord God.  All human life is sacred and precious. Let each of our voices be heard by speaking up and on behalf of those who are unable to do so for themselves. Let us defend our right to life, unhindered by others and in accord with the Holy Will of Our Heavenly Father.

Metropolitan Borys visits Capitol Hill

________________________________

On Thursday, September 28th, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak together with the Razom Advocacy team, visited Capitol Hill to talk to Congressional leaders about the need to pass swift and decisive guarantees regarding aid to Ukraine.  The Archbishop met with Congressmen Tim Burchett representing the 2nd District of Tennessee, Neal Dunn serving as the U.S. representative for Florida’s 2nd congressional district, Joe Wilson, the U.S. representative for South Carolina’s 2nd congressional district and Chair of the Helsinki Commission, Gus Bilirakis who serves Florida’s 12th District, and Gregory Meeks from New York’s 5th Congressional District who is the ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.  Archbishop Borys held a meeting with Reverend Admiral Margaret Grun Kibben, chaplain of the U.S. House of Representatives. In February she visited Ukraine together with a small group of House GOP members. Each Wednesday Chaplain Kibben dedicates prayers in the House of Representatives to Ukraine.  “Our American political system with all its weaknesses evident in these days has many overriding virtues. Our Congress is open to the people. Members of our legislative bodies know that they must listen to citizens. We have the opportunity and responsibility to make our voices heard. I encourage all Americans to go see your representatives. The doors are open. They receive us courteously. In one day, it was possible to speak with several members and their staff. Some members are big friends of Ukraine, and others have voted against bills supporting Ukraine,” noted Metropolitan Borys Gudziak. “We thanked those who support our people and sought to help the others understand why they should do the same. Some of those whom we met were clearly swayed by the information we provided.”  The Metropolitan stressed that the work of the Ukrainian community representatives –the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America and Razom’s advocacy team – is essential. “I encourage all Ukrainians to write to or visit their senators or representatives. Thank them for their support and encourage those who do not fully support Ukraine to change their position,” emphasized the Archbishop who serves on the Razom Advocacy Advisory Board.

PLEASE PRAY FOR

Please include in your prayers those members of our parish who are in hospitals, care homes, rehabilitation facilities & those who are not able to join us actively in our church community.
