Prayer For Peace in Ukraine

Heavenly Father, You Son taught us “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.” We fervently pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, that you inspire men to become peacemakers. May mankind seek reconciliation and peace as is Your Will in this world. May tranquility be restored to all nations and especially Ukraine. God, Our Father, we beseech You to comfort the suffering, heal the wounded, and accept the souls of the dearly departed into Your heavenly kingdom. May the Most Holy Mother of God extend Her Mantle of Protection over Ukraine and the whole world. May each of us always live our lives as instruments of Your peace, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Protection of the Mother of God

The Church has always glorified the Most Holy Mother of God as the Protectress and Defender of the Christian people, entreating, by her intercession, God’s loving-kindness towards us sinners.  The Mother of God’s aid has been clearly shown times without number, both to individuals and to peoples, both in peace and in war, both in monastic deserts and in crowded cities.  It is one of the most beloved feast days on the Church Calendar, commemorated on October 1st.

  • Russian troops hit an industrial enterprise in Lviv

On the night of September 19, 2023, Russian troops hit an industrial enterprise in Lviv, where the warehouse of humanitarian aid Caritas-Space Ukraine was located. The mission staff were not hurt, but the warehouse with everything inside burned to the ground.  33 pallets of food kits, 10 pallets of hygiene kits and cans, 10 pallets with generators and clothing have been destroyed. According to the representatives of the Lviv archeparchy, in which there is a warehouse, about 300 tons of humanitarian trucks burned in the warehouse. Vehicles with humanitarian cargo were rescued from the warehouse.  This is not the first case that the Russian Federation has attacked humanitarian warehouses in Ukraine. Counting all attacks on humanitarian warehouses is difficult because of confidentiality of information, but according to media reports, in May this year, warehouses of two humanitarian organizations in Odessa and Ternopil were destroyed. Caritas-Space Ukraine is monitoring the situation and will keep its partners updated.

  • St. Vladimir’s Pyrohy

The pyrohy machine has been tested and we are ready to go.  It’s going pretty well.  Volunteers needed will be greatly reduced, but still needed.  Potatoes will still need to be peeled the day before. We need to discuss the dates we will be making them, usually, October, November and December.  Most likely the pyrohy will be made during the week and sold on a Saturday.  Dates to be determined. Also the freezer issues need to be resolved before we can announce the dates.  Pyrohy will be sold frozen and uncooked.

PLEASE PRAY FOR

Please include in your prayers those members of our parish who are in hospitals, care homes, rehabilitation facilities & those who are not able to join us actively in our church community.
