  1. cHANGE IN LITUGY TIME THIS SUNDAY

Sunday, December 10, 2023 Divine Liturgy will be at 10:30 am FOR THIS WEEK ONLY.

  • St. Nicholas VISIT

St. Nicholas will be coming to our parish on Sunday, December 10, 2023 after liturgy.  Children from religious education will have a Christmas presentation for our parish and will eagerly await the arrival of St. Nicholas.  A luncheon will be provided.  A basket raffle will also be available for parishioners and guests to purchase.  All are welcome to attend this Christmas tradition!

  • DECEMBER PYROHY SALE

The season of Christmas is fast approaching and our pyrohy orders are filling up fast! Our next sale and distribution is scheduled for Saturday December 16th from 2:30 PM until 3:45 PM and Sunday December 17th from 9:30 AM until 11 AM and after Liturgy on both days.  Orders are taken on a first call/first served basis and supply is limited don’t be disappointed!   • REACH OUT TO OUR NEIGHBORS ACROSS THE STREET THIS CHRISTMAS!!!!

Lackawanna County Office of Youth & Family Services provides programs for children in our county.  Outreach – Center for Community Resources (our neighbors across the street) provides children involved in those programs with books, pajamas, and educational toys each year. Lackawanna County Office of Youth & Family Services provide these items to over 250 children and are still looking for additional support. We are in need of pajamas sizes 2T – 10 for boys and girls; toys and games for infants through 6 years old, and books for children 0 – 10. If you would like to donate, we will have a contribution box in the back of the church for you to drop off these items.  New items please, no used items and do not gift wrap. Use the above list to make your purchases.  Thank you for your support.  The items will be collected through December 20th.  See Jean Pedley if you have any questions.

  • Potato Peeling on Wednesday

The peeling of potatoes for the making of Pyrohy will take place this Wednesday, December 13th, beginning at 9:30am.  Workers are needed to help with this important task. Thank you to those who are able to come and help.

  • Christmas Flower Collection this Weekend

A reminder that donations for Christmas Flowers can be made this weekend, December 9th & 10th.  Please use the specially marked envelope in your collection packet.  Your Donations will help us Beautify our Church for the most joyous Christmas season.

  • November Vigil Candle Donations total $800!

Donations for Vigil Candles last month totaled $800 for St. Vladimir’s Church.  Thank you to all of our Parishioners who continue to sponsor 7-day Vigil Candles for their Loved Ones.  Also, thank you to Helen Pagnotti for coordinating this project.

  1. Sign-up sheets for Pyrohy helpers

Sign-up sheets are available in the back of the church for the pyrohy making process.  Come 1 day, come 3 days or come for a few hours.  All help of any amount of time is appreciated.  Our pyrohy sale income is the key to paying our heating bills for our church properties…..

  1. Concert of Sacred Music this Sunday in Philadelphia

St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 24th and Poplar Sts, Philadelphia is holding a Concert of Sacred Music from East to West this Sunday, December 10th at 4:00pm.  In celebration of the Church’s 80th Anniversary.  Featuring music by Bortniansky, Hurko, Pitoni, Distler, Palestrina, Zakkak and Lysenko.  Tickets $15.

  1. Christmas Concert next Saturday in Phoenixville

Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 301 Fairview St, Phoenixville, will hold a Classic Christmas Concert to benefit Ukraine next Saturday, December 16th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.  Featuring Blujazz recording artist David Francis.  $20. Kids free.  All proceeds to Ukraine Relief.  Sing along to your favorite Christmas classics!
